Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve is a 693 acre, privately-protected scenic natural area located in the Little Mountains region of Colbert County. It is established to help provide a sanctuary for native plants and animals as well as educational and recreational opportunities for people of the Shoals . It is open to the public year-round at no charge, except on special program or activity days sponsored by local environmental, civic, or natural history groups. Nearly eleven miles of hiking trails provide routes to many of the scenic sites on the preserve, but a 4-wheel drive road also permits access for elderly or handicapped visitors to some areas
