The Children’s Museum features hands-on ways for little ones to connect with our local culture and it’s a must-see for families visiting Florence, AL and the Shoals. Kids will also love exploring history through interactive and informative historical sites and exhibits ranging from Native American history to the Civil War.

Wildlife & Outdoors

Get outside and hit the trails at one of our parks and preserves. From hiking and mountain biking to boating and birding, there are so many ways to connect with nature. For a wild time, head to the George H. Carroll Lion Habitat at the University of Alabama, home to the only live lion mascot in the US! Killen Time Adventure Park is another fun stop for miniature golf inside an adventure park and habitat for tortoises, ducks, emu, and many other species.

Indoor Activities

For indoor fun on a rainy day, visit one of our area bowling alleys, trampoline parks, unleash your inner lumberjack at Axe Kicking, or take your family shooting at Cypress Creek Indoor Range. Visit on a Tuesday evening for “Zombie Night!”
