In 1964, Heinie Manush was the first Alabamian to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown. After his death May 12, 1971, he was elected to the Alabama Hall of Fame in 1972 and to the first class of the Colbert County Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. He is a member of the Michigan and Florida Sports Hall of Fames. He is on the Washington Nationals Wall of Fame. During his career in seventeen seasons from 1923 until 1939, he batted over .300 eleven times, nine with averages .333 or better. He finished with a lifetime batting average of .330 with 110 home runs. In nine of his seasons, he finished in the top ten in batting. He had 2,524 hits in his career, with four 200 hit seasons in 1928, 1929, 1932, 1933. The 1928 and 1933 seasons he was the American League hits leader. He batted in 1,183 runs during his seventeen-year career. He had six 100 runs scored seasons in 1927, 1928 & 1930-1933. In the 1928 and 1929 seasons, he had 100 RBI's. Manush was the American League triples leader in 1933, two-time doubles leader in 1928 and 1929, and three-time singles leader in 1928, 1932 & 1933. His 33 career double plays turned in left field ranks 25th in major league history.
