Downtown Attractions & History

Downtown Florence is home to the historic Shoals Theatre, which stages live music and theatre productions and screens films. The Kennedy Douglas Center for The Arts, just north of Wilson Park is a beautiful place to view rotating art exhibits within three beautifully-preserved historic homes. History buffs will get a big kick out of Pope’s Tavern Museum, which served as a tavern, makeshift hospital, and meeting place for Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War.
